Risk prevention when riding:
Riding a horse involves a certain risk, as in any activity or sport. Depending on what you do, that risk can increase or decrease.
Horses, as prey animals that they are, have all their senses focused on fleeing in the face of possible danger; it is what has kept them alive for thousands of years. Every reaction of a horse has a reason, although sometimes we do not know what has caused certain behavior. Everyone can get scared at a given moment and create a dangerous situation (for them or for us). For this reason, it is important to take into account a series of risk prevention measures:
The most important individual prevention measure is the mandatory use of helmets , approved according to the UNE EN 1384 standards.
Riders should always wear clothing appropriate to the weather and the activity, long pants and well-covered footwear (boots or shoes).
Horses are animals that at first glance can give respect and be intimidating and that is why the first thing to do is leave the nerves of riding behind.
The activity should always be carried out in optimal physical and mental conditions, since, like all risk sports, the rider needs balance, agility, attention, mental sharpness and adequate physical condition.
The consumption of alcohol, tobacco and drugs is prohibited , with the obligation to report certain illnesses, physical problems or medications that are being taken to assess the suitability of the rider to make the start.
Children under 8 years of age cannot leave the route through the natural environment, they can only ride on the track always accompanied by a responsible adult.
Minors over 8 years of age may leave the route with the prior written authorization of a responsible adult. When there are more than two minors, an adult must also accompany them.
When passing behind a horse , always be careful not to startle or frighten it to avoid kicks and remember that they can also push, bite or step on you, even involuntarily.

In case of a fall, try to land standing up or with your arms in front. But, in the case of not landing on your feet, try to roll protecting your head and torso to avoid being trampled by the animal.
Never ride the horse without the supervision of the monitor .
Do not wrap the reins around the hand or any part of the body, if the horse pulls it could be injured or dragged.
Always follow the monitor's instructions , without yelling or snapping, keeping the horse in line in its line position.
The companions of the riders will also follow the instructions of the monitor or staff of Cavalls Wakan for the prevention of their safety.
We must always remember that we are dealing with animals , which can have unexpected reactions, so we must be very attentive and always treat the horse with care and respect.
