Retreat and boarding
Rest assured, we take the responsibility of caring for your horse very seriously, so you can rest assured knowing your equine companion is receiving the care and support they need. All horses deserve our utmost respect, and we dedicate our best efforts to improving their well-being and quality of life. For us, horse handling is not an art, as some suggest, nor a science, it is a feeling.
We follow a careful protocol when a new horse arrives to ensure its safety, that of the current resident horses, and ourselves. We will help your newly arrived horse adapt to its new environment, understanding its specific needs and responding accordingly to achieve a successful transition, resulting in a free, healthy, and happy horse, ready to thrive in its new home with its new herd. Here you will find more information.
It's your horse and you can obviously come see it and be with it whenever you want without any hindrance. We simply ask for the utmost respect for the common areas and the farms where the horses live, ensuring cleanliness (cigarette butts, trash, etc.) and the safety of everyone (closing gates, respecting fences, etc.).Both he and we will be delighted with your visits.
The feeling of being "far away" is subjective and depends on each person's perspective, not just physical distance. "Far away" is a state of mind, not just a physical location. While it's natural for owners to want their horses close to home, focus on the needs, not the distance. It's about the quality of life for your retired horse.A horse's happiness depends more on feeling free and having its basic needs met, such as food, water, shelter, social interaction and space to move, than on the physical distance from its owner.Frequent visits are beneficial for the owner's peace of mind, but the relationship is also based on trust and care, which can be maintained through regular, quality visits and interactions, even if the horse does not live near you.
Fortunately, since horses live freely in a natural environment, we don't usually have major mishaps, but if an accident or illness occurs, the horse's owner will be notified as soon as possible so that a decision can be made.If necessary, we are trained to provide first aid and coordinate the necessary veterinary care.
If this happens, we will quickly contact the owner to inform them of the situation and decide whether they want to send a trusted professional or notify our primary veterinarian. At Cavalls Wakan we trust the health of our horses to V3 Equip Veterinar i , which has equine specialists with years of experience and provides all equine medicine services.
Our basic retreat includes:Life in freedom in the herd with all the grass of the meadows.Hay on demand when needed.Clean and fresh water always.Mineral salt blocks on demand.Daily care and monitoring of the horse.Minor veterinary care (wound care, medication administration, etc.)Attend visits from professionals (Podiatrist, veterinarian...)Here you will find more information.
